The video, which is just under a minute and a half long, features a dramatic soundtrack as it captures scenes of Cork’s port industry along the River Lee, including container ships, Blackrock Castle Observatory and a wind turbine under construction.
Cork-based media production company Dog Day Media teamed up with SkyTec Ireland to film the video. They used a Cinestar 8 to fly around gathering footage. It’s a multi-rotor unmanned vehicle designed to carry heavy equipment and reduce unwanted vibrations.
It is truly incredible, check out the video below:
Steve Slade, CEO of SkyTec, told breakingnews.ie care and attention are needed to shoot footage from an unmanned drone.”It can weigh up to 10-12kg,” he said. “If they haven’t been checked and assessed … they could drop out of the sky.”SkyTec is licensed by the Irish Aviation Authority and Slade takes his safety very seriously – with all the licensing and third-party insurance that goes with it.
Dog Day Media offer this service commercially to clients, some of which have included Paddy Power, Audi, UCC and Otterbox.
“We have been working hard along side our UAV partners at SkyTec Ireland to bring the best aerial cinematography to both domestic and International markets,” the company said.
“We have fine-tuned the technology and developed custom systems that are unique to SkyTec and Dog Day Media.”
Skytec’s relationship with Dog Day Media’s is equally beneficial.
“We’re very happy with Dog Day,” Slade said. “They’re a superb company – they really are.”
