“Because maybe…!” – Irish Priest Steals the Show with ‘Wonderwall’ at Wedding

We’ve seen our fair share of unique Irish wedding moments — a rogue uncle doing the worm, a late-night sing-song that turns into a session, even a donkey in a bowtie once — but this? This might top them all.

Over the weekend, Fr. Ray Kelly, the now-famous singing priest from Oldcastle, Co. Meath, brought the house down at a wedding ceremony by performing none other than Oasis’ classic “Wonderwall”live at the altar, might I add.

The video, which has quickly gone viral (because of course it has), shows the moment Fr. Ray casually slips into the opening chords of the ’90s anthem, surprising the newlyweds and absolutely delighting the entire congregation.

“Because maybe… you’re gonna be the one that saves me…”
Not something you expect to hear from a priest in vestments

The bride and groom were clearly gobsmacked, and there wasn’t a dry eye — or straight face — in the place.

Not His First Rodeo 🎶

If Fr. Ray’s voice sounds familiar, that’s because it should! He shot to fame back in 2014 with his emotional rendition of “Hallelujah” during another wedding — a video that racked up millions of views and landed him on Britain’s Got Talent.

And now, years later, he’s done it again. A priest, a mic, and a bit of Oasis. Sure, what more do you want?

The Verdict?

“Legend.”
“Only in Ireland.”
“My priest barely makes eye contact, never mind belts out 90s bangers.”

The comments section is a love letter to Irish humour, music, and the kind of wedding moment you’ll never forget. And let’s be honest — if your priest knows all the words to Wonderwall, that’s a sign you’re off to a good start in married life.
