Hi, I’m Stephen Palmer, and this is my site
I’m from Co. Cork. Irish Around The World is run by me, not a team, and it has been since the start. If you’ve ever had a Friday email from me, that was me typing it.
How it started
In 2013 I built a website to help Irish people moving to Australia. A few years later, when a lot of us were heading home again, I started a group for Irish ex-pats returning to Ireland. Along the way I noticed that the big Irish websites published articles all day but never really connected people to each other.
So in 2015 I started Irish Around The World and the Facebook community that goes with it. The group hit 30,000 members in its first few weeks and has grown to well over 70,000 since. The Facebook page now has over 200,000 followers and the weekly email goes out to more than 50,000 people.

Every Friday I send one email: an Irish joke, a Celtic symbol, an Irish fact, a poem, and the best of the week’s articles. It’s free, it’s short, and it’s the reason this site exists.
