There are lost keys. There are lost phones. But this Irish lad from Wicklow managed to one-up us all… by losing his entire car for nearly three weeks after a stag party in Cork. Yes, really.

Ah lad, where is my car?
Kieran (the hero of the hour) travelled down to Cork for a friend’s stag, arriving late and under pressure to find parking. After failing to find a spot in the city centre, he left his car somewhere—somewhere being the keyword—in a random housing estate, hopped in a taxi, and set off for a night of pints and party.
The next morning? Not a clue where the car was.
No street name.
No landmarks.
Just a hazy memory of “somewhere near a roundabout.” That narrows it down to about 6,000 places in Cork.
After returning to Wicklow carless and sore-headed, Kieran made three weekend trips back to Cork with a friend, searching 59 suburbs with no success. Google Maps? No help. The Guards? Supportive but baffled. Eventually, he posted a reward of €200 for anyone who could find the missing burgundy Skoda Superb.
Enter Cork local Susan Maguire, who spotted the car just sitting there in Ballyphehane—about 30 minutes’ walk from the city centre, parked up like it was waiting for him the whole time.
“I’m delighted to have it back,” Kieran said. “But I’ve taken a lot of stick from the lads.”
Ah sure, he’ll never live that one down.
😂 Irish Takeaways:
-
Always drop a pin. Even if you’ve only had the one pint.
-
Cork might be the Rebel County, but she guards her secrets well.
-
Losing a car is impressive. Losing it for three weeks? Legendary.
🧠 “Did You Know?”
The tradition of the stag party goes all the way back to Ancient Sparta! Irish lads just made it louder and added more Guinness.
